How to Select an Aermotor

  1. Estimate daily water requirements. See table below.  (Advisable to estimate that mill will pump equivalent of 4 to 5 hours full capacity out of 24. This varies with locality.)
  2. Choose cylinder of diameter for required capacity.
  3. Determine total elevation from low water level in well to discharge level.

Then select tower of height to place wheel at least 15 feet above all surrounding wind obstructions, such as buildings and trees, within a radius of 400 feet.

Capacities below are approximate, based on mill set on long stroke, operating in 15 to 20-mile-an-hour wind. Short strokes increases elevation one-thrid and reduces pumping capacity one-fourth.
